Ladders – Safe Use
Who should attend
Any operators, supervisors or managers, who use or supervise the use of ladders in their place of work.
On completion of this course participants will be able to:
- Select appropriate work at height equipment for a task,
- Correctly locate and safely use ladders and step ladders,
- Inspect ladders and step ladders for damage.
The course will equip participants with the knowledge, skills and confidence necessary to use ladders and steps legally and safely.
What will be Covered
- Ladders and Component Parts
- Overview Legislation and Standards
- The Importance of Planning Ahead
- Site: Positioning, stabilising, protecting other and weather conditions
- Task: Duration of tasks, climbing and descending carefully & loads
- Equipment: Selecting the right class, material, height and type of equipment
- Personnel: Selecting competent persons to do the task and the required PPE
- Inspection & Records
- Storage Handling & Maintenance
- Pre-use Checks, Hazards & Maintenance
Duration & Attendance
This is a ½ day course with a maximum of 10 participants.

Certification
Delegates who successfully complete this course of instruction will be awarded a TMTS Certificate of Training Achievement in the Category Ladders –Safe Use.
